Unbelievable value for a Garmin GPS
I upgraded from a Garmin Nuvi 360 to this model - Nuvi 680. It was an awesome price for a GPS in new condition. The FM transmitter does not work as well as I had anticipated, but I have to troubleshoot it with customer service, which is another reason I like Garmin. No product is perfect, especially electronics, but there is a short wait to speak with a customer service representative, and they speak English as a first language - what a novel concept. They are always courteous and helpful, and the support line is open until later in the evening on the weekends. 2008-11-20

my favorite GPS
Borrowed one on these for a trip last summer, when the model was new. Loved it!! Can't beat the price of $200 for a refurbished model. Does everything I need for it to do. LOVE IT!! 2008-11-20

Looks and performs like new
Factory Refurbished Garmin nüvi 680 looks and performs like new. Mine came with the latest software and City Navigator® North America NT 2009 Map Update. I'm glad i purchased a unit that has the bluetooth feature, it's very impressive, it even sync'd my address book into the GPS. I'm very happy with this purchase. 2008-11-12

Great value on a nicely featured GPS unit
I have to disagree with aaowood's review. The pricing of this refurbished unit is appropriate for the condition and history of the unit.
Having purchased this unit myself, I'm very pleased with the condition in which it arrived. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the latest maps were actually installed already. (Call me cynical, but I anticipated that would be a "gotcha" point where Garmin would try to turn a buck.) The unit and everything else appeared to be in perfect condition. I didn't find even a blemish on them. The packaging, however, identified it as refurbished. (That could be important for gift giving. The packaging was clearly printed with logos by Garmin, but was "generic" - without the typical retail info on the outside.)
It even arrived apparently fully charged. I chose a safe place on my windshield and was able to use my new toy immediately. No downloads necessary. No complicated set up necessary. This is my first GPS unit and I was up and functioning within minutes of getting in my truck. I've told it where "home" is and created a few "favorites" without much fumbling around.
I'm sure I'll hit a snag along the way, but so far the physical unit and its operation have been beyond my expectations. I know that opting for a refurbished unit slides me down the "value scale" a little bit. I felt that the price for a refurbished unit was a far better value FOR ME than paying more for the same unit new, or the same for a much lesser unit. Everyone will have to choose where they want to be on that scale.

Don't Buy Refurbished!
They tell you that the product is in original working condition after it has been refurbished, what they don't say is that the life of the product is diminished and it can sometimes have cosmetic blemishes. If you're going to spend the money on a new GPS, you want to make sure that it will last you a long time and has no visible damage. 2008-11-08
