Good Picture, But.....
This is my first Blu-ray player. I used this Samsung BD-P1500 player for about 80 days now. Overall it produces excellent picture quality and sound thru my HDTV (Samsung LN52A650).

On the down side, the remote control is not as sensitive as expected. Also, I have experienced complete lost of audio for a few times. I have to disconnect the power from the Blu-Ray player and plug it in again in order to re-gain the audio back. Finally, compared to non blu-ray player, this player is just slow. It can take up to one minute from the moment I put in the DVD to the moment the movie display on TV.

Great picture quality
We have been pleasantly surprised by the quaility and ease of use of this blu-ray player. We actually recieve this free from a promotion when we bought an LCD TV and had read some reviews that were not very favorable but it was free so what did we care? Well, the blu-ray has been excellent. It has played all of our DVDs we have tried as well as the blu-ray discs. We are very pleased by the product and would recomment.

Samsung BD-1500 Blu-ray
This was a special offer when buying my Samsung A750 through Amazon and came free with my television. The quality of this item, as with my television, is excellent. This is a great player. Thanks Amazon!

Affordable Blu-Ray that will soon be outdated
As my first experience with Blu-Ray, it's hard to gauge how this player ranks with picture and sound quality. However I think it's important to rate this player independently of the Blu-Ray format, so I'll try my best.

The first thing that struck me is that this player is exceptionally slow. With research, I've come to find that Blu-Ray players in general are having problems getting "up to speed". Regardless, operating this player can be a serious game of "how much can you wait". Even something as simple as ejecting the tray from standby can be a solid 10 second delay as the player lazily wakes up. Skipping chapters becomes a chore, and switching discs turns into a lesson in tedium. I suppose this creates the atmosphere of watching Blu-Ray discs as an Event, and nothing less.

In terms of features, the BD-P1500 gives you a modicum of bells and whistles. There's a 24frames per second movie mode, and the ability to adjust your sound space. There is a USB port for viewing other media like pictures and videos, and an ethernet port to connect to the Internet. Sadly, this is only to upgrade the firmware, and does not support BD-Live functionality, making this player already somewhat obsolete. There is also no Picture in Picture or Multiple Angles features supported by the player.

If you're looking for a value player that gets you in the 1080p game and you don't want to concern yourself for any flashy features (that 60% of the time aren't worth the bother), then you'll find an adequate piece of equipment here that focuses strictly on offering an excellent picture quality, and not much else.
